The selected experienced and qualified landscape architecture consultant will be tasked with providing landscape architectural services. The Proposer will provide the services per Section 5. Preliminary Scope of Services. Project Objectives: A. Design of Sustainable Demonstration Garden Develop a 26,000 square foot demonstration garden highlighting sustainable, water-efficient landscaping practices. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal standards, including ADA requirements and the City of San Jose's Water Efficient Landscape Standards. Incorporate features such as native and climate-appropriate plants, high-efficiency irrigation systems, integrated rainwater capture, and green stormwater infrastructure. Include accessible and functional public gathering areas with educational signage and multipurpose features to promote community engagement. B. Stakeholder Engagement and Design Integration Lead a collaborative stakeholder involvement process, including planning and facilitating public design charrettes and formal design reviews. Incorporate feedback into conceptual layouts and final designs. Collaborate with local organizations to ensure the garden and bioswale serve as educational and practical resources, showcasing water conservation and sustainable practices. C. Construction Oversight and Quality Assurance Provide expert site inspection and review during the construction phase to ensure compliance with design specifications. Verify proper installation of plants, irrigation, rainwater systems, and hardscaping. Approve modifications and change orders as necessary to ensure the project meets design and sustainability objectives. D. Development of Comprehensive Maintenance Plans Create detailed maintenance handbooks for both the demonstration garden and bioswale, incorporating sustainable landscaping principles. Provide clear guidance on seasonal maintenance, irrigation systems, green stormwater infrastructure, and plant care. Include time and resource estimates to support long-term sustainability and functionality of the installed features Other Details Minimum Qualifications: o The Proposer [or Proposer's employees] shall have three (3) years of experience in landscape design. o The Proposer [or Proposer's employees] shall have the following certifications, licenses or affiliations: Licensed Landscape Architect. o The Proposer shall possess knowledge of regulations and codes regarding [state the discipline] and shall be familiar with local conditions relating to landscape design and Low Impact Development in Santa Clara County. a. Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) b. City of San Jose's Water Efficient Landscape Standards for New and Rehabilitated Landscaping c. San Francisco Bay Municipal Regional NPDES Stormwater Permit (MRP) d. California Building Code Standards e. CEC code lighting standards f. Municipal Regional National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Permit (MRP) g.
