Renovation of a mixed-use development in DeWitt, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a parking garage; and 23,600-square-foot, one-story above grade pre-engineered storage facility.
The project consists of the build out of an existing pre-engineered metal one-story building with a mezzanine. This slab on grade building will be used to store and service equipment for the DeWitt Street Department. The 23,600 SF slab-on-grade garage/shop will have 4 vehicle bays for street maintenance equipment with overhead sectional doors at each bay. There will be another two bays for equipment maintenance, there will also be a separate bay to be used for vehicle washing. The first-floor office area will consist of offices for the street staff, a meeting room, rest rooms, and a mechanical room. The second floor will consist of Locker Rooms, Showers, and a Break Room. There will also be an office in the shop area for the head of maintenance and parts storage. The Building is an existing pre-engineered metal building that was originally unfinished. The exterior of the building has metal siding that will be reused as much as possible. The existing metal roof will be reused as much as possible. The existing foundation will be modified to accommodate the remodel. The floor will be concrete slab with in-floor heat. Bids must be accompanied by bid security in form of certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond in amount of 5% of base bid submitted, made payable to owner, as guarantee that bidder will, if awarded, enter into contract in accordance with contract documents and submitted bid. Upon award of Contract, Contractor shall provide AIA A312 Performance and Payment Bonds in the amount of 100% of Contract Sum in accordance with General Conditions and Amendments to General Conditions. The anticipated award date is April 7, 2025. Pre-construction and submittals work related to the project is to commence immediately after receipt of the signed contract. The construction shall be complete no later than November 28, 2025. The contractor shall schedule and conduct a preconstruction meeting and present a schedule showing dates and timelines for each portion of the project. If the contractor cannot achieve substantial completion by November 28, 2025, the Contractor shall pay the County $250.00 per day liquidated damages for each day until substantial completion is determined by the owner & architect. The City of DeWitt hereby reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities and award a contract as deemed to be in the best interest of the city.
