Asbestos inspection of the structures to be demolished has already occurred; report is available to bidders. The city is bidding demolition and asbestos removal as a single demolition contract. The general demolition contractor is required to subcontract the asbestos removal work to a licensed asbestos contractor based on the demolition and asbestos inspectors' work specifications. After the removal of the asbestos by a licensed asbestos contractor, the demolition contractor would complete demolition of the structure. The asbestos abatement contractor cannot be the asbestos inspector. The City of Lancaster will be accepting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the demolition and/or asbestos removal of 8 of residential and 6 of commercial structure No bidder moy withdraw their bid within 5 days after the actual date of bid opening. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid guarantee equivalent to 5% of the bid amount. This can be secured by a bid bond or certified check and must be included with the bid.
