Penn Wood ES Partial Roof Replacement All bids must be accompanied by a Non-Collusion Affidavit and a Contractor's Qualification Statement. Bids must remain in force for sixty (60) days after the date of the bid opening and may be rejected any time prior to the expiration of said date. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bonds in amounts equal to 100% of the contract price. Surety shall be satisfactory to the School District and shall be included in the contractor's bid amount. All questions will be received through the online solicitation until Friday, March 21, 2025, at 12:00 Noon. This project is subject to prevailing wage. The School Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, and to make or not make awards in the best interest of the West Chester Area School District. Scope of Work The scope of work includes the following list of items as identified below and in the enclosed drawings. A. Roof Removal: 1. No more roof area than can be made into a watertight condition will be removed in a single day. 2. Contractor will have trucks or dumpsters available for removal of debris. Roof debris will not be stored on the roof or on adjacent roof areas. 3. Roof removal will not be started unless materials are on site for installation of new roof. 4. Metal – Where the existing roof system will be removed to the steel deck, repair defects as required. Where rust is found, the deck will be treated with Red Oxide Primer. Allow primer to dry. Any steel decking that is rusted through will be call out to the attention of the Owner. Areas of heavy scaling rust will be wire brushed prior to application of primer. Unattached steel decking will be re-secured with Tek-3 screws. 5. Inspect the existing tectum plank roof deck for any signs of damage or deterioration. Remove and replace based upon unit price. 6. Drains to be plugged during tear off operations and re-opened the same day. Do not allow drains to be plugged over night. 7. All precautions must be taken to ensure a watertight condition. Contractor will provide an emergency telephone number to School District Representative. 8. The Contractor will provide all materials needed to properly perform the work. 9. Install a fully adhered .090” black EPDM roof system in accordance with Carlisle’s installation requirements. 10. Add additional wood blocking at the perimeter of the roof area to accommodate the new roof insulation thickness. 11. Flash all existing roof penetrations and curbs in accordance with Carlisle’s installation requirements. 12. Fabricate and install 24 ga 2-coat kynar finished galvanized steel edging at all roof edges. Color to match the existing gym edging.
