Renovation of a library in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 70,000-square-foot library.
The library is a 70,000 square foot building which uses an outdated and unreliable pneumatic heating and cooling system. Under this system, the library is divided into large heating and cooling zones. It has become very difficult for staff to control the temperature in many of these zones, causing service calls and generating complaints from staff and the public. We are unable to regulate the temperature in several parts of the building, requiring frequent service calls, uncomfortable conditions, and excessive energy use. This project replaces the old system with a fully digital one, both improving the library's ability to control the temperature and reducing future costs for maintaining the system and through lower energy use. As of March 13, 2025, this project is included in the city's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Further information regarding a design firm and timeline for construction has not yet been established. Funding is allotted for FY 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
