This is a Design-Bid-Build task order for the demolition of various buildings at NAS Meridian, MS, as outlined in the Plans and Specifications. Work will also include some hazardous material handling and incidental related work. The base bid includes demolition of building 218 at NAS Meridian, MS The buildings at NAS Meridian designated for demolition will be completely removed, including all structural components such as roofs, walls, windows, doors, floors, porches, stoops, steps, overhangs, and sidewalks down to the foundations, footers, and slabs. Adjacent non-demolition facilities will remain unaffected. Gazebos may be demolished, but could remain in place if they benefit nearby facilities. Various utilities, including communications, water, sewer, electrical, steam, and natural gas, will also be demolished or relocated, with any utilities under pavement or trees being abandoned in place, capped, and flowable filled. Associated bollards will also be removed. Grading and drainage will be designed to prevent ponding and minimize disruption to the site's topography and drainage patterns. The Navy will aim to preserve small-to-large trees around the buildings, protecting large tree root zones and installing ground protection pads where necessary to prevent damage to salvageable trees. Erosion and sediment control measures will be implemented before construction begins to prevent sediment and debris from leaving the site, in accordance with all relevant regulations and permits. Perimeter construction fences with designated access gates will be installed, and Best Management Practices (BMP) will be used to ensure proper sediment control and protection of nearby waterways.
