DECLINATION - If you choose not to submit a proposal, promptly email a bid declination message, referencing the Project Name and Number, to email Address aec-bid-decline@umich.edu within one (1) week after issuance of this Invitation for Bid. RIGHT TO REJECT - The Owner reserves the right not to proceed with the Project, to reject any or all proposals and to waive informalities in bidding as its interests may require. PROPOSAL WITHDRAWAL - Withdrawal of any proposals is prohibited for a period of sixty (60) days after the time set for opening of proposals. STATEMENT OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION - The University of Michigan will affirmatively insure, regarding any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, that diverse business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit a bid in response to this invitation, and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of their sex, race, creed, color, religion, age, height, weight, marital status, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, disability, or Vietnam-era veteran status. THE PROJECT SCOPE IS THE ABANDONMENT OF THE EXISTING CAST IRON RADIATORS IN PLACE IN THE READING ROOM AND STEAM AND CONDENSATE PIPING IN PLACE. PIPING SHALL BE REMOVED AT ABANDONED UNITS IN THE MAIN READING ROOM AS NEEDED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW WORK. CAP AND LABEL ABANDONED PIPING AT PIPE ENDS FOR PIPING THAT IS REMOVED. NEW FINNED TUBE HEATERS WILL BE INSTALLED IN FRONT FRONT OF THE EXISTING RADIATORS. NEW HEATING HOT WATER PIPING SHALL BE ROUTED FROM THE BASEMENT TO THE READING ROOM AND ROUTED THRU THE EXISTING CASEWORK TO FEED THE FINNED TUBE. THE HEATING HOT WATER WILL BE TIED INTO NEAR THE MAIN HEAT EXCHANGERS IN THE BASEMENT AND ROUTED TO THE MAIN READING ROOM THROUGH THE BASEMENT AND THEN UP THROUGH THE FRIST FLOOR. THE SCOPE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: ABANDONED CAST IRON RADIATORS AND ASSOCIATED PIPING IN PLACE REMOVE STEAM AND CONDENSATE PIPING AS NEEDED IN MAIN READING ROOM FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW WORK REMOVE THERMOSTATS FOR UNITS BEING REMOVED INSTALL NEW FINNED TUBE HEATERS IN FRONT ABANDONED RRADIATORS INSTALL NEW HEATING HOT WATER SUPPLY AND RETURN PIPING FROM SOURCE TO NEW FINNED TUBE HEATERS INSTALL NEW TEMPERATURE SENSORS AND CONTROL FOR ALL NEW UNITS BEING INSTALLED The Project: Replace finned tube radiant heaters in the Main Reading Room as Base Bid and six (6) cooling-only blower coil units on the third and fourth floor of Hatcher North Graduate Library as Alternate No 1. on the University of Michigan's Campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Major aspects of the work include, but are not limited to: 1. Removal, abatement, and proper disposal of existing asbestos containing materials, lead containing materials, PCB containing materials, and regulated building materials. 2. Architectural finishes 3. Revision of existing HVAC systems. 4. Alarm and telecommunications systems.
