Question Deadline 03/27/2025 Questions received less than seven days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered. The work includes furnishing of all materials and equipment and performance of the following work, per the Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents (PS & CD). The Base Bid work for the above contract includes the pavement replacement for 10 Alleys within the City of Burlington. The alley locations are as listed: o City Alley #9 (E. Highland Ave./Robert St & Henry St/Alice St) o City Alley #13 (E. Chandler Blvd./E. Highland Ave. & Henry St/Pine St) o City Alley #16 (E. Chandler Blvd./E. Highland Ave. & S. Kane St/Edward St.) o City Alley #19 (Gardener Ave./W. Market St & Emerson St/Randolph St.) o City Alley #21 (Orchard St/Rose Ann Dr. & S Oakland Ave/S Maple Ave) o City Alley #22 (Orchard St/Rose Ann Dr. & S Kendrick Ave/S Oakland Ave.) o City Alley #32 (Westridge Ave./Walnut St & N Oakland Ave/East Termini) o City Alley #33 (Westridge Ave./Walnut St & N Kendrick Ave/N Oakland Ave.) The Base Bid work also includes the pavement replacement for S Maple Ave between Orchard St and City Alley #21 and the city owned parking lot adjacent to City Alley #40. Major work items and approximate quantities for all base bid work as requested include: 2,300 tons HMA Pavement, 6,500 Base Aggregate Dense 1-1/4" (including EBS), 3,300 CY Excavation Common (including EBS), 400 LF of storm sewer, 380 SY of Concrete Driveway 6-Inch, 100 SY of Concrete Pavement /Alley, 300 SF Concrete Sidewalk 6-Inch, 1340 SF of Concrete Sidewalk 4-Inch, and 650 LF of curb and gutter replacement. Other improvements include storm sewer inlet/manhole replacements, manhole and valve box adjustments, sawing asphalt and concrete, pavement markings, erosion control, traffic control and restoration. Bidders shall submit Bids on blanks prepared for that purpose and shall state prices in writing and in figures. Use the form contained in the PS & CD. Bidders should pay attention to the requirements for Bid signatures, as set forth in Bid Security. Bidders may not withdraw their Bids within the 60-day period after the date of the Bid Opening. The Owner will only consider Bids from Bidders who accompany them with bank money order, a Bid Bond, or a qualified certified check, payable to the City of Burlington, in the amount equal to 5 percent of the Bid. This requirement serves to guarantee that, if the Owner accepts the Bid, the selected Contractor will execute and deliver the proper Contract Agreement and Bonds within 15 calendar days after the Notice of Award by the Owner. Failure to return these documents within this prescribed time will result in forfeiture, to the Owner, of the selected Contractor's cash, Bid Bond, or cashier's check, as liquidated damages. BIDDER'S PREQUALIFICATION: A Bidders qualification statement form will be issued with the Bid Documents. The Bidders Qualification Statement form must be completed and submitted in a sealed envelope at the time of Bid submittal. No bids will be accepted from any Bidder who has not submitted a Bidders Qualification Statement form. These prequalification forms will be reviewed; however, updated proof of qualification may be requested by the Owner prior to acceptance of any bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject the bid of any Bidder who has been determined to be unqualified. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive or not waive any informality in the bids received and to accept any proposal, which they deem most favorable to the interests of the Owner, the City of Burlington.
