The City of Chandler is proposing to extend the Kyrene Canal Path, south from our shared border at Knox Road to Orchid Lane. As part of that project, Chandler is proposing to design and construct improvements within the City of Tempe through an Intergovernmental Agreement which will include new sidewalk, bus shelter, and traffic signal near Kyrene Road and Knox Road. The project is primarily funded through federal grants and local City of Chandler funding. This programmed funding will be used as Tempe's contribution to the required local match of 5.7% of the grant and contingency funding. As of March 18, 2025, this project is included in the City of Tempe's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Information regarding engineer and architect have not been disclosed. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to August of 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
