Description

Renovation of a mixed-use development in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

This proposal for design services is for the second phase of renovations which will create areas for the Alternative Education program facilitated by the Public Schools Branch of PEI. In addition to interior renovations to modify the layout of the existing spaces, there will also be a need for repairs to the building envelope in areas that have experienced water infiltration. There will also be the need for some moderate sitework as much of the current site slopes toward the building in spots, causing water to collect against the foundation. The mechanical and electrical systems in the building will also have to be assessed and upgraded as necessary to provide sufficient heating, ventilation, and power to all spaces. This assessment will also need to determine whether a sprinkler system is required. TIMELINE: RFP for Prime Consultant services was issued in spring 2025. It's unknown whether any design work has proceeded. Tender and construction timing may be confirmed late 2025/2026, pending owner's decision to proceed.
