Project Description: The approximately 4,000 square foot historic Utility Building will be rehabilitated with new electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, ventilation and climate control systems, and updated fire suppression system. Building envelope will be improved with interior wall and exterior roof insulation. Office space will be relocated and a new restroom and kitchenette will be added. New interior finishes will be installed and the existing wood ceiling will be revealed and restored. The roof membrane, man doors, and garage doors will be replaced and the historic windows will be preserved and repaired throughout. Wood surfaces will be repainted or refinished and masonry surfaces cleaned and repointed. Shop spaces will be outfitted with ventilation and safety equipment such as, but not limited to, vent hoods and eye wash stations. Due to the historic nature of the building, construction must comply with State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) standards as approved and integrated into the design. A new storage building of approximately 1,600 square feet will also be constructed adjacent to the existing historic Utility Building to accommodate snow equipment. The building will be minimally heated and will include vehicle wash bays and utility sinks for summer use. The new storage building will be constructed as slab on grade with integrally insulated CMU wall construction and metal roof deck with TPO membrane and include large overhead sectional doors. Both buildings will receive associated site sewer, electrical and water utility connections, data and telecommunications to the NPS network, regional power company equipment, and adjacent facilities.
