The project includes approximately 3345 CY of Topsoil Onsite., 12017 CY of Class 10 Excavation, 3821 CY of Class 10 Excavation (Designated Borrow Source), 10508 SY 12" Subgrade Preparation, 10508 SY of 8" thick Modified Subbase, 900 LF of 15" RCP Storm Sewer, 701 LF 18" RCP Storm Sewer, 160 LF 24" RCP Storm Sewer, 8 LF 36 Inch RCP Storm Sewer, 3462 LF of 6" Subdrain with cleanouts and connections, 249 LF of 8" PVC C900 RJ cased and trenched, four fire hydrant adjustments, 7 SW-505 intakes, 8 SW-506 intakes, 2 SW-506 Top Only Intakes, 9221 SY 9" PCC Pavement, 1559 SY Special Subgrade for Shared Use Paths, 1033 SY 5" PCC Sidewalk, 84 SY 6" PCC Sidewalk, 948 SY 6" and 7" PCC Driveways, 1107 SY of Temporary Granular Driveway, 5899 SY Pavement Removal (HMA), 60.3 STA Painted Pavement Markings Durable with Groove Cut, 9 Painted Symbols and Legends, Durable with Grooves Cut, Temporary Traffic Control, 9 Traffic Signs, 1.3 Acres of Type 1 Seeding, 2.4 Acres of Type 2 Seeding, Fertilizing and Mulching, SWPPP Management and related erosion controls. Work on the improvement shall be commenced immediately upon approval of the contract by the City Council, and be completed as stated below. This project is subject to Targeted Small Business provisions. Good faith efforts must be made to solicit bids from registered Targeted Small Businesses, as listed in the TSB directory provided by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Good faith efforts must be documented on a completed TSB Pre-Bid Contact Information form and returned with the bid proposal. Failure to return completed forms will result in the bid being deemed non-responsive. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by City of Altoona and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless The City of Altoona from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four years from and after acceptance of the contract. The entire project shall be complete including pavement markings, roadway signage, final site stabilization and roadway open to traffic within 90 working days. Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $1,200 per Calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract terms completion of the total contract. The City of Altoona does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction.
