Site work and paving for a civil project in George, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
Our work was performed in accordance with the authorization of Gary Kurth with DGR Engineers. The scope of work as presented in this report is limited to the following 1. To perform 6 standard penetration test (SPT) borings to gather data on the subsurface conditions at site. Prior to performing the test borings the pavement was cored. 2. To perform laboratory tests that include moisture content, dry density and standard Proctor. 3. To prepare an engineering report that includes the results of the field and laboratory tests as well as our geotechnical engineering opinions and recommendations regarding the following Subsurface conditions; Subgrade strength and potential corrective measures; Pavement subgrade preparation; Pavement section thicknesses; Special geotechnical conditions that may impact the constructability and final performance of the project; Quality control observation and testing. Question Deadline 03/27/2025 The work will consist of the construction of approximately: 1,476 L.F. Storm Sewer, RCP; 13 EA. Storm Structures; 2,800 L.F. 8" Water Main; 5 EA. Sanitary Sewer Manholes; 2,880 SY Milling/Reclaiming and other related construction work. All work is to be done in strict compliance with the plans and specifications, also referred to Drawings and Project Manual respectively, which have heretofore been approved by the City Council, and are now on file for public examination in the office of the City Clerk. The Contractor will be allowed to begin work after April 21st. 2025. The Contractor shall be completed on or before July 19th, 2025. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check drawn on a solvent Iowa bank, or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or by a share draft drawn on an Iowa credit union or a credit union chartered under the laws of the United States, made payable to the City of George, Iowa. Checks shall be in the amount often percent (10%) of the amount of the bid. In lieu ofa certified or cashier's check, each proposal may be accompanied by a bid bond, issued by a company authorized to contract as surety in Iowa. Bid bonds shall be in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid. The certified or cashier's check, share draft or bid bond shall be forfeited and redeemed with the proceeds retained by the Owner as liquidated damages if the Bidder fails to execute a contract and file an acceptable bond for the faithful performance thereof, within ten (IO) days after the acceptance of his bid. Bid securities of the lowest two or more Bidders may be retained for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other bid securities will be returned after the canvass and tabulation of bids is completed. If a bid bond is used it should be in substantially the same form as the bid bond form set out in the Project Manual. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Owner, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor and protect and save harmless the Owner from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor and shall also guarantee the maintenance of all improvements for a period of two (2) years from and after the completion and acceptance of the Owner. The Owner hereby reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities and to enter into contract with the lowest, responsive, responsible Bidder.
