Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Newton, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The 2025-01 PCC Patching Project is a public improvement project aimed at enhancing the infrastructure within the City of Newton. The base bid includes several tasks to repair, adjust, and improve roadways and utility structures in six specific locations across the city. These tasks included but are not limited to as follows Full Depth PCC Patches: 5,667 square yards (SY) of concrete pavement patches will be carried out to address areas with significant deterioration. 2. Manhole Adjustments: 17 minor manhole adjustments will be completed to ensure manholes are level with the surrounding pavement for better accessibility and safety Intake Adjustments: 7 intake adjustments are planned to ensure proper drainage and prevent flooding or water build up on road surfaces. Water Valve Adjustments: 4 water valve adjustments will be made to ensure that water valves are flush with the pavement surface and accessible. ADA Ramps: 8 ADA-compliant ramps will be installed to improve accessibility for people with disabilities at intersections or sidewalks Pavement Widening: 268 square yards (SY) of pavement will be widened in specific areas to improve road capacity and traffic flow. Additionally, the Bid Alternate 1 includes: 1. Full Depth PCC Patches: 1,901 square yards (SY) of additional patches to address more damaged areas. 2. Manhole Adjustments: 5 additional minor manhole adjustments. 3. Water Valve Adjustments: 2 additional water valve adjustments. 4. ADA Ramp: 1 additional ADA-compliant ramp. Contractor shall fully complete the project on or before October 31, 2025, 2025.Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. Said corporate surety bond shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Newton from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations ofthe contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two (2) years from and after acceptance of the contract. Said bid security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. The work shall commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed, and shall be completed on or before on or before October 31,2025. The City of Newton reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
