The City of River Falls will receive bids for the 2025 Directional Boring Contract. The work specified in this contract consists of furnishing and installing HDPE conduit using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method of installation, also commonly referred to as directional boring or guided horizontal boring. This work shall include all necessary services, equipment, and labor for the complete and proper installation, testing, surface restoration, replacement of any damaged utilities, environmental protection and traffic control. The work to be performed under this contract includes 16,000 Lineal Feet of directional drilling HDPE conduit in various sizes ranging from 1-1/4 to six inches in diameter. Work also includes, but is not limited to, pulling owner supplied electric cable into new conduit. Additional Description: Directional boring, also referred to as horizontal directional drilling (HDD), is a minimal impact trenchless method of installing underground utilities such as pipe, conduit, or cables in a relatively shallow arc or radius along a prescribed underground path using a surface-launched drilling rig. Directional boring offers significant environmental advantages over traditional cut and cover pipeline/utility installations. The technique is routinely used when conventional trenching or excavating is not practical or when minimal surface disturbance is required.
