Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Ankeny, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The 2025 PCC Street Patching Program project includes the full depth removal and replacement of PCC street pavement at six (6) separate locations, generally located on: Site 1 - NW Prairie Ridge Dr between NW State St and NW Ash Dr, Site 2 - Fire Station #1, Site 3 - E First St between N Ankeny Blvd and NE Delaware Ave, Site 4 - SW Ordnance Rd between SW State St and SW Westview Dr, Site 5 - SE Magazine Rd between S Ankeny Blvd and SE Delaware Ave, Site 6 - SW Glenbrooke Blvd between SW Fox Run Dr and SW Sunnybrooke Dr, and SW Meadow Ridge Dr between SW Fox Run Dr and SW Sunnybrooke Dr The construction improvements include approximately 1,000 SY of 9" thick PCC Class C-SUD full depth patches, 2,300 SY of 8" thick PCC Class C-SUD full depth patches, and 700 SY of 7" thick PCC Class C-SUD street pavement. Other associated improvements include sidewalk and pedestrian ramp removal and replacement, installation of new intake structure, minor adjustments to storm sewer structures, partial rebuild of an existing intake, temporary traffic control, maintenance of postal service and solid waste collection, temporary surface restoration, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. A truss screed shall be utilized on all patches greater than or equal to three panels in length. Doc Note - Paper copies of the Contract Documents are available from the City of Ankeny Public Services Building, 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Drive, Ankeny, Iowa, 50023. The initial set is free of charge to prospective bidders, i.e. qualified general contractors. A fee of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per set will apply to additional sets and to bidding documents requested by other than prospective bidders. This fee is refundable, provided the following conditions are met: (1) The Contract Documents are returned complete and in a good usable condition. (2) They are returned within fourteen (14) calendar days after the award of the project. An individual must call 515-963-3520 in advance to reserve a paper copy. The Contractor shall substantially complete each of the six (6) separate Sites within a specified number of working days for each Site as noted below: Site 1 - fifteen (15) Working Days, Site 2 - fifteen (15) Working Days, Site 3 - twenty-five (25) Working Days, Site 4 - five (5) Working Days, Site 5 - twenty-five (25) Working Days, and Site 6 - ten (10) Working Days More than one (1) Site is permitted to be under construction simultaneously, but not without prior approval by the Engineer. Working Days will be tracked separately for each Site. Substantial completion for each Site shall be defined as all utility, grading, and pavement construction completed, temporary surface restoration completed, permanent pavement markings completed, with the new street and sidewalk pavement fully open to traffic. A mandatory six-day work week is not required; however, working days will be charged on Saturdays and Sundays if the Contractor elects to perform bid item work on Saturdays or Sundays. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work at each Site within these timeframes, liquidated damages of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work at each Site not substantially completed within the designated Contract term(s). The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project no later than October 31, 2025. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all work including punch list items completed, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s). ach Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the City of Ankeny, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instructions to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on acredit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City of Ankeny. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the City of Ankeny and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Ankeny from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four (4) years from and after acceptance of the Contract. If manufacturer's warranty exceeds four (4) years, then the manufacturer's warranty shall govern the maintenance period. The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project no later than October 31, 2025. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all work including punch list items completed, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s).
