Reference Number 0000381036 The County of Mercer requests bids for Replacement of Mercer County Bridge #670.4 (Burlington County Bridge F2.10) Carrying Iron Bridge Road over Crosswicks Creek located in the Township of Hamilton, Mercer County, and Township of Chesteeld, Burlington County. The project will be constructed under a single prime contract. SCOPE OF WORK The work to be performed under this contract includes, but is not necessarily limited to, o The demolition and removal of the existing and any previous bridge superstructure and substructure, including all appurtenances to the extents shown on the plans. Any existing piles that interfere with proposed pile locations are to be removed completely in accordance with the plans. o The construction of temporary cofferdams, permanent cofferdams, and maintenance of the stream flow shall be according to Section 501 of the Specifications. o Construction of replacement Bridge #670.4 with a 90'-5 1/2 " clear span by 40'- 10" wide single span bridge supported on two pile supported footings as well as four wingwalls. The proposed cross section at the bridge will consist of two 11-foot travel lanes, two varying width shoulders, one 5'-3 1/2 " wide sidewalk and two 42" tall concrete bridge parapets. o Structural work includes, but is not limited to, the installation of steel piles, installation of steel sheeting and cofferdam, construction of concrete abutments and wingwalls, structural steel erection, construction of concrete deck, concrete sidewalks, concrete approach slab, concrete bridge barrier, concrete barrier curb with moment slab, and a polyester polymer concrete overlay. o During removal operations, temporary shielding shall be used to prevent material from falling into the stream. Temporary turbidity barriers shall be installed in the stream to control downstream turbidity and to allow for dewatering of the work area and construction of the proposed abutments and wingwalls. All work to be performed shall be in accordance with the Project Documents, Drawings, Specifications and Addenda if issued. o Roadway work includes hot mix asphalt paving, new striping, new guiderail and approach guiderail systems, excavation, drainage, topsoiling and seeding. o High acid-producing soils with a pH of 4.0 or less or containing iron sulfide may be encountered during construction. Excavation should be monitored for acid producing soils. If acid soils are encountered, refer to the "Standard for Management of High-Acid Producing Soils."
