The Work includes modifications to existing building premise wiring to accommodate the change from overhead to underground service and the installation of new underground service cables in existing conduits The Work is generally described as follows: a. Convert building electrical services from overhead to underground on twenty three (23) buildings that are located along and adjacent to the alleys and streets bounded by N. B St., N. Howard St., W. Ashland Ave., and W. Boston Ave. b. Install underground cable in existing ducts from the utility source point (transformer, pedestal, or handhole) to each building. c. Perform work on buildings as shown on the drawings. d. Furnish all material required for the completion of the Work. Each bid must be accompanied in a separate envelope by a bid bond, certified check or cashier's check drawn on a State of Iowa or federally chartered bank, or a certified share draft on a State of Iowa or federally chartered credit union, in an amount not less than five per cent (5%) of the total value of the Proposal, and made payable to the Owner as a security that the bidder will enter into a contract for the Work within ten (10) days after the award of the contract to such bidder The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and a payment bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, the bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by IMU, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions contained in it, and save harmless IMU from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor. Work is to commence on or about June 1, 2025, unless an earlier start date is negotiated between the Owner and the successful bidder. Work must be substantially complete by December 31, 2025 with all work completed by January 30, 2026. IMU reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive informalities.
