The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is seeking proposals to install a new Owner furnished transformer as a backup to a current in-service transformer in the Substation at the Beto Unit in Tennessee Colony, Texas. April 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Last Day to Submit Written Questions for Clarification to the Department The existing BETO substation has one operating 10MVA transformer and one backup unit, which is currently not installed and is stored on site within the substation yard. This project will be to install the backup transformer as a new bay adjacent to the exiting transformer. The new installation will also consist of high side and low side disconnect switches, instrument and metering transformers, high and low side bus work, and replacement of the relaying and controls for protection of both the new transformer bay, and the existing transformer bay. The substation yard will be expanded to the northwest to accommodate the installation of the new bay. The substation is partitioned into a portion owned by the power utility and a portion owned by TDCJ, with a fence through the substation delineating the change in ownership. All work within this scope will take place on the TDCJ owned portion of the substation
