Site work for a stadium in St. Albert, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a stadium.
Larose Outdoor Rink is located at 135 Larose Dr, St. Albert, AB T8N 3P7. The current rink is a wooden, boarded structure, approximately 200 ft x 85 ft (to be confirmed) in size and was originally constructed in 2010 (to be confirmed). The rink is a staple in the community and sees consistent use. The dimensions of the rink rebuild shall match the existing rink dimensions. The Contractor shall note the following dimensions prior to the demolition. 1) Rink length 2) Rink width 3) Radius corners 4) Wall height (behind goal posts, until wall straightens) 5) Wall height on the sides of the rink Dimensions shall be provided to the City of St Albert representative for approval before proceeding with the rebuild. All vertical 8’ and 4’ boards sit 1” above grade minimum. All new 4”x 6” treated posts shall be plumb in both directions and strung straight at 4’. This may require some shimming or movement within the existing metal brackets. All post tops to be cut 2” below the vertical boards at 10 degrees with the same height throughout the perimeter. Nuts to be on the outside of the rink, with 2 -3/8” through bolts 7” long connecting the post to the bracket. Bolts cut flush to the nut and smooth to the touch. All rink lumber should be standard spruce #2 or better, unless specified treated. Horizontal boards on straight walls to be 2x8 16-feet long with joints off set between top rail and bottom rail. Attached with 3 ½” #10 screws. Bottom Railing to be 12” off the ground to the bottom edge. Railing on curved corners to be 1x8 16-feet long. Rink boards (vertical) 2 x 8 to be attached by # 8 x 2 ½ inch deck screws (not 3”) 3 per railing, which is total of 6 screws per 4-foot-high boards and 9 screws per 8 foot high boards. Screws to be attached in an alternating 45 degree angle. No screws protruding through any boards. Vertical boards should be 1 to 1 ½ inches above finished ground height. These boards shall be tight fit and plumb with no gaps. 3/8” white plastic UV rated puck board to extend 1” below the bottom of the vertical boards. 7 7/8” Baseboards to be made out of 3/8”inch white plastic UV rated puck board and attached with # 10 x 1 ½ inch painted white head deck screws every 6 inches top and bottom to ensure 2 screws in every vertical board. Screws need to be counter sunk flush into the puck board. Screw pattern to be determined on site as installed. To be installed 1” below the wood rink vertical board. Top edge to be routered with a ¼’ round bit. This shall be installed after the boards have been painted. Baseboards shall be installed with consideration of seasonal expansion and contraction – gap to be determined with City of St Albert representative at time of installation. Tractor gate threshold should be two treated 6x6 lumber bolted together and attached to gateposts. Do not attach the puck board to the inside of the threshold. This should sit on top of a 4” tamped bed of gravel with the top being 4 ½ to 5 ½ above grade on the inside and 1” on the outside. See drawing titled “Tractor Gate Detail”. Grading and landscaping to be specific to the tractor gate ramp. To be determined on site. Existing square tube metal tractor gate posts to remain, straightened and made plumb as required. Re-use hinges and hardware for 3 man gates. No changes to man gate locations due to the treated post layout. Use solid white colour stain on interior boards. Exterior boards shall be stained with cedar acrylic solid hide stain. All stains shall be applied with minimum of two (2) coats to the Players box.
