Street Resurfacing 2025 Bids shall be properly and completely executed with form 96. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check or bidder's bond in an amount not less than 10 percent (10%) made payable to the City of Bedford. Bid bonds must be secured by a surety company in good standing and qualified to do business in Indiana. Certified checks or bid bonds of unsuccessful bidders shall be returned to them upon selection of the successful bidder. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Each bid, bid bond or certified check, and a non-collusion affidavit shall be securely sealed in an envelope and clearly marked "street resurfacing for year 2025". The successful bidder shall be required to furnish the City of Bedford with a certificate of insurance showing that the bidder is covered by liability insurance in an amount of no less than one million ($1,000,000.00) dollars and that this coverage shall be in full force and effect during the time that the bidder is performing services for the City. No bidder may withdraw his bid within a period of 30 days following date set for receiving bids. The City of Bedford, Indiana reserves the right to hold any and all bids for a period of not more than thirty (30) days, and all bids shall be and remain valid and in force and effect during said period. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids in part or in whole, and to waive informalities, and to award the bid to any bidder or bidders, all to the advantage of the City of Bedford. Scope of Work: The City of Bedford will be accepting bids for fourteen (14) roads in Bedford, including milling, cleaning, and sweeping desired street. All cross streets will have milled butt joints at main line edge furnishing and applying average of 165 pounds per square yard surface Mix Type B on City Streets. In most cases this will be done through two applications, the first being a leveling layer (also referred to as wedging). The Street Commissioner may direct an adjustment in depth of asphalt to correct specific problems of selected streets. Two (2) of the streets( Sanders lane and Clover lane) are complete reconstructions finished to existing grade, that will consist of excavating existing roadway(not parking areas) and subgrade to a total depth of 16 1/2 inches. Road will be reconstructed with 2-6" lifts of 53 stone compacting each lift, 3" of binder and 1 1/2 " of surface. The contractor will haul and dispose of all material removed. Two (2) other streets (L street and Lincon Ave.) will also be milled and paved but in addition will have the east side curbs and sidewalks removed and replaced, all curb ramps are subject to ADA requirements, standards can be found on INDOT'S web site under "doing business with INDOT" section 604 of INDOT standard specifications. Part of the sidewalks on Lincoln Ave are monolithic, and part are curb and sidewalk. The contractor is responsible for restoring the grass area they disturb. L-street sidewalks and curbs will start at 15th street and end at 12th street, Lincoln Ave the curbs and sidewalks will start at 12th street and end at 9th street. 4000psi exterior concrete replaced at current width, 4 inches thick, 3/8 " rebar on 1' x2' grids, rebar to be placed on chairs. Curbs will be 12" x 6" standing curbs.
