Site work, asbestos abatement and renovation of an educational facility in Newark, Delaware. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.
The work consists of the removal of positive and assumed asbestos-containing materials on the interior and exterior of school buildings in accordance to the bidding documents. Location- Hodgson Vocational Technical High School, 2575 Glasgow Avenue, Newark, Delaware, 19702. The bids may not be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. A bid bond is required. A performance bond and payment bond is required if the based bid is greater-than $ 50,000.00. The New Castle County Vocational Technical School District may extend the time and place for the opening of bids from that described in the advertisement on not less than two (2) calendar days notice, by certified delivery, facsimile machine, or other electronic means to those bidders who obtained copies of the bidding documents. The New Castle County Vocational Technical School District reserves the right to waive irregularities and reject any and all bids. The Work consists ofthe following: The abatement of flooring within Section 3 and Section 9 must be performing using the specific abatement method as specified. Only the specified chemical mastic remover and cleaner shall be used on this project (See Appendix E). The Contractor shall apply as many coats of chemical remover and cleaner as necessary to provide a smooth, asbestos free clean floor surface suitable for future floor use and waxing by Owner. Shot blasting includes the use ofmedia proven to be effective for asbestos material removal. All equipment must have HEPA filters. Cut asbestos floor tile at doorsto adjacent areas flush leaving nojagged edges. Seal cuts with two coatings of a bridging encapsulant to prevent asbestos fiber release. Main Building Section 3 (Base Bid Item): Install sealed wooden barriers at locations shown on the drawings prior to the start of any work. Remove barriers after clearance has been granted for all work in this building section. Removal of asbestos floortile mastic and asbestos cove base mastic at locations showing on the drawings and tables. Remove all assumed asbestos-containing materials. Flooring removal using shot blasting methods as specified. Use chemical mastic removal and cleaning methods on edges only as needed with the majority ofthe floor being removed by shot blasting methods. Provide a smooth, asbestos free, clean floor surface suitable for future floor use and waxing by Owner. Remove all identified and assumed asbestos-containing materials. Properly dispose of all wastes. Shop Building Section 9 (Base Bid Item): Removal of asbestos floor tile, asbestos mastic, cove base and asbestos cove base mastic at locations showing on the drawings and tables. Remove all assumed asbestos-containing materials. Flooring removal using shot blasting methods as specified. Use chemical mastic removal and cleaning methods on edges only as needed with the majority ofthe floor being removed by shot blasting methods. Provide a smooth, asbestos free, clean floor surface suitable for future floor use and waxing by Owner. Remove all identified and assumed asbestos-containing materials. Properly dispose of all wastes. GreenhouseBuilding Section 10 (Alternate Bid Item): Complete removal ofall interior and exteriorasbestos-containingmaterialsforbuilding demolition asshown on the drawings and tables. Completely dismantle all glass panels including structure and properly dispose. The Contractor shall completely remove all layers ofmaterialto access and abate asbestos-containingmaterials. Remove all identified and assumed asbestos-containing materials. Properly dispose of all wastes.
