All questions must be received by end of day on April 23, 2025 Description: The Saint Louis Zoo Architecture and Planning division is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to repair an existing retaining wall on the south side of the Elephant Management Facility in need of stabilization. The wall, constructed in 1998, has developed large diagonal cracks in the concrete and a section of the wall is visibly out of plane near a heavy steel swing gate. After architectural and structural review, it was determined the retaining wall will require the installation of geotechnical turnbuckle anchors of varying depths and staggered heights to stabilize. The wall will be tied to an undulating gunite retaining wall in the adjacent elephant habitat. The distance between these two retaining walls is +/- 20'-0 and filled with soil, plants and trees that form a visual barrier blocking the public view of the Elephant Management Facility. See Attachments 1 and 2 for more information. To help relieve hydrostatic pressure on the wall, the scope also includes drilling weep holes at 6'-0" on center for the length of the area of concern.
