Site work for a water / sewer project in Aurora, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
**As of June 20, 2025 the project is on hold. No definite date for the rebid.** The Mid-East Commission on behalf of Aurora, North Carolina is soliciting proposals from construction companies with demonstrated qualifications and experience to complete the "Wetland Restoration, Berm Improvement, and Sludge Removal at the Wastewater Treatment Plant" project. The town's unique wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) utilizes the natural function of a wet land in its process to sanitize and purify wastewater. The surface flow wetland system consists of two parallel cells with a total area of1.28 acres and is designed as abasin wetland to mimic the natural filtration properties of this wetland type. The project includes restoration of the two wetland cells, removal of sludge from the two holding ponds, and improvement of the berm around the facility for flood protection. (The two wetland cellsare integral to the wastewater treatment plant's functionality and cannot be shut down at the same time. Fall season restoration for one wetland cell and spring season restoration for the other wetland cell will be required.) Please see the construction plans and special provisions in the RFP for details. This project was funded through the NC Division of Coastal Management's Resilient Coastal Communities Program, Phase 4 (Implementation). A copy of the grant application is available upon request. Based upon evaluation of the submittal package, the lowest responsive ,responsible bidder will be selected, as required by North Carolina General Statute [G.S. 143-129(b),G.S. 143-131(a)]. The Town of Aurora reserves the right to reject any and all submittals, waive technicalities,and judge the suitability of the proposed services for its intended use, and further specifically reserves the right to make the award in the best interests of the Town and negotiate the total fee amount to coincide with available project funding
