The area to be serviced is the City of Harrodsburg, city limits, in Mercer County consisting of an estimated four thousand four forty-four (4,044) households and commercial sites. Subscription shall be voluntary, although the City reserves the right to mandate same during the term of the franchise. The City, however, makes no representation or assurances that mandatory garbage collection will occur during the franchise term. Bidders are required to bid on refuse and bulky waste collection, recycling collection, transport, and disposal at a site approved by the State. The term of this contract will be a three (3) year period with an optional two (2) year extension. The schedule for first day of service is July 1, 2025. Bids must be made on the Contractor’s Bid Form in accordance with the instructions to Bidders The successful bidder will be required to execute the Contract within thirty (30) days after award of the Contract. In case the bidder neglects to so execute the Contract, the bond accompanying the bid shall be forfeited to the City, not as a penalty, but as liquidated damages. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive irregularities and/or informalities in any bid, negotiate bids as described in “Instruction to Bidders” and to make an award in any manner, consistent with law, deemed in the best interest of the City.
