INVITATION The City of Sunnyvale is seeking proposals from firms to provide professional services to determine the cost and feasibility of requiring structural retrofitting of existing seismically vulnerable buildings. It is anticipated that the length of contract will be no longer than 1 year. This project is an engineering and building study for a city-wide assessment of soft-story and non-ductile concrete buildings. The study includes the feasibility of requiring building owners to upgrade the buildings to current seismic State building codes. The study will include an assessment of the cost and design constraints of seismic structural upgrades versus the current building design integrity and market valuation to determine if the cost of upgrades is financially feasible for soft-story and nonductile concrete buildings. Recommendation for the timeline of repair of buildings requiring upgrades and projected staffing needed to implement the program is to be included. The project will include outreach to interested parties such as building owners and businesses, as well as providing staff support during the presentation to the City Council.
