Scope of Services The City of Signal Hill is seeking capable, qualified, and competent contractors to perform pavement markings and striping in Segment B of the City. The scope of work consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, tools and incidentals as required to complete the work. The work to be accomplished under this contract generally includes, but is not limited to the following: o Clean, prepare, and stripe a combination of residential, collector, and arterial streets. o Clean, prepare and paint a variety of pavement marking types. The prospective contractor will need to verify and track quantities and adhere to the proper spacing and type of marking in the right-of-way (ROW). All Work must be completed within thirty (30) working days after receipt by the Contractor of the Notice to Proceed from the City of Signal Hill. Traffic striping shall consist of any and all work required to install replacement pavement striping, paint, thermoplastic, markings, and legends to their original locations. Pavement marking, legends, crosswalk, limit lines, and striping shall conform to the latest provisions of Section 84, "Traffic Stripes and Pavement Markings", of the Caltrans Standard Specifications and these special provisions. These have been included under the "Attachments" Tab for reference. Contractor is responsible for providing all submittals prior to the start of work. Contractor will be responsible for correcting drips, deforming, shadowing, etc. City Staff will field verify all painted/thermoplastic areas performed by the contractor and issue corrections as required. All striping and pavement markings work shall be in accordance with the latest edition of the State of California Department of Transportation Standard Plans. Work performed shall adhere to the latest edition of the California Watchbook for Temporary Work Zones and 2014 MUTCD latest revision for specialty work zones as required. The contractor shall furnish the necessary control points for all striping and markings and shall be responsible for the completeness and accuracy thereof to the satisfaction of the Engineer. No striping shall be installed until the layout and spotting has been specifically approved by the City. Payment for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals necessary to complete the quantities noted in the line items section and all related work including layout, spotting, painting two coats, and protecting completed work are considered as included in the Contract price PER UNIT (i.e. LF or EA.). Although the project is considered maintenance work the project will require DIR registration and certified payroll submittals.
