Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Whiteville, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a 5,338-square-foot service station / car wash facility; for site work for a service station / car wash facility; for the demolition of a warehouse / distribution facility; and warehouse / distribution facility.

Conventional Construction Within the Base Bid, the General Contractor constructs a conventional load bearing building erected upon a shallow foundation system and concrete slab on grade of approximately 5,338 square feet for the State Highway Patrol. The building consists of a single story. Exterior walls are brick veneer with concrete masonry unit backup, and brick veneer with cold formed metal framing backup. Roofing is fiberglass asphalt shingles. Interior work consists of typical masonry partition walls, cold formed metal framing wall partitions with gypsum wallboard and interior finishes typical of commercial building types. Demolish the storage building. Plumbing distribution supports typical commercial toilet facilities. Mechanical distribution delivers conditioned air via heat pump equipment and is regulated by thermostat controls. Electrical service consists of a 800 amp Main Distribution Panel with 120/208 Volt, Three Phase distribution. Sitework includes drives, parking and stormwater management devices. Alterations Within the Base Bid, the General Contractor performs alterations of approximately 2,988 square feet for the Division of Motor Vehicles. Interior walls and utilities distribution are substantially demolished. Interior work consists of typical masonry partition walls, light gauge steel stud wall partitions with gypsum wallboard and interior finishes typical of commercial building types. Plumbing alterations support typical commercial toilet facilities. Mechanical distribution delivers conditioned air via heat pump equipment and is regulated by thermostat controls. Electrical service consists of a 250 amp Main Distribution Panel with 120/208 Volt, Three Phase distribution. Add Alternate 1 Within Add Alternate 1, the General Contractor constructs a conventional load bearing utility building erected upon a shallow foundation system and concrete slab on grade of approximately 1,708 square feet. The building consists of a single story. Exterior walls are brick veneer with concrete masonry unit backup. Roofing is fiberglass asphalt shingles. Interior work consists of typical masonry partition walls. Demolish the fueling station. Construct replacement canopy, fuel dispensing equipment and controls that are connected to an 0.04-2 Section 00 11 00 0.04, Notice to Bidders existing underground, highway rated, 10,000 gallon fuel tank. Electrical service consists of a 150 amp Panel LP with 120/208 Volt, Three Phase distribution. General Contractors are notified that GS 87, Article 1 are observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. General Contractors submitting bids must have a license classification for Building Contractor Accompany each proposal with a cash deposit or certified check drawn on a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and in an amount equal to not less than five percent of the proposal. In lieu thereof, a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent of the bid from a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit is retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to execute the contract within ten days after award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A performance bond and a payment bond are required for one hundred percent of the contract price In accordance with General Statute G.S. 133-3, preferred brand alternates and performance standards will be identified as it pertains to Section 08 71 00, Hardware Requirements. No bid may be withdrawn after receipt for a period of thirty days. The Owner reserves the unqualified right to reject any or all bid proposals and to waive informalities.
