for the redevelopment of an approximately 3.4 acre site located on the north side of the 400-500 block of Jackson Avenue. Knoxvilles Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is the public housing authority for Knoxville and Knox County and also serves as the redevelopment agency for the City of Knoxville (City). In its capacity as the redevelopment agency for the City, KCDC is responsible for, among other things, establishing and maintaining redevelopment areas, acquiring and disposing of real property, and partnering with the City on the evaluation and implementation of development incentives including tax increment financing and PILOTs. KCDC was chartered by the State of Tennessee in 1936 as an independent public instrumentality and is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners. KCDCs Board members are appointed by Knoxvilles Mayor. Day-today oversight of the corporation resides in KCDCs Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director (CEO) and the staff. KCDC is comprised of four departments and employs approximately 150 individuals.
