Project Type RFP (Request for Proposal) Response Types Response File Type of Award Lump Sum Project Duration 5 years The Scope of Services consists of the engineering services related to Geotechnical Investigations and other Geotechnical Engineering services including the preparation of reports related to investigations and services for various projects. These services shall be provided according to the City's direction(s) and in conformance with the professional standards of practice established by the City. The Consultant shall have the in-house capability to perform geotechnical and soils investigations including, but not limited to, drilling, evaluating, and logging of materials including all incidentals such as: Obtaining the required permits for subsurface exploration, Traffic control, Hazardous materials assessment, and Clean-up and restoration of site required for design of the Project. Other possible services include, but are not limited to: coordination with Underground Service Alert, Field explorations, Location, potholing and verification of elevations of existing utilities, borings, and sampling, laboratory testing, data analysis and report preparation, ground water investigation, and discussion and recommendations related to dewatering issues and related permits such as National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) during construction, review available published and in-house geotechnical literature, groundwater data, topographic/geologic/fault maps, aerial photographs, and the City of San Diego's Seismic Safety Study. Perform laboratory testing of soil to include: moisture content, dry density, particle gradation, shear strength, corrosivity, R-value, Sand Equivalent, Expansion Index, consolidation, Permeability characteristics, and Infiltration Rates. The Consultant shall prepare geotechnical reports. Geotechnical reports shall recommend, but are not limited to: pavement sections, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability measures, grading specifications, retaining wall criteria, on site materials suitability, soil suitability for pipe bursting and/or tunneling, rock rip ability characteristics, seismic rupture potential, liquefaction potential, settlement potential, and soil bearing capacity and concrete slab design according to the City's Technical Guidelines for Geotechnical Reports and any other applicable City or State guidelines and standards.
