Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery Vestibule The Department of Veterans & Military Families is accepting quotes for a Licensed and Insured Contractor to design and construct a vestibule for the north entrance of the Committal Shelter and repair two existing Committal Shelter doors, located at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Rd NE, Flintstone, MD 21530. The overall scope of work involves the design, fabrication, and construction of a fully enclosed vestibule at the north entrance of the Committal Shelter. The new structure will tie into the existing wing wall and serve as an airlock entry, providing enhanced energy efficiency and improved safety for pedestrian traffic, in compliance with current building codes. Question deadline: 5/14/25 at 12:00 PM A. Architectural Integration: The vestibule shall be designed to aesthetically and functionally integrate with the existing building. All finishes, materials, and color schemes will complement the current architectural elements, ensuring visual consistency and structural harmony. B. Vestibule Framing: o Thermally broken aluminum framing. o Manufacturer's standard Kynar paint finish. o Two elevations to be enclosed. C. Glazing: o 1" clear, low-E, tempered insulated glass. D. Dimensions (Approximate): o End Elevation: 48" long, trapezoidal shape (101" high to 88" low). o Front Elevation: 141" wide x 88" high. E. Doors Requirements/: Hardware Specifications: o Pair of 6'0" x 7'0" storefront doors. o Narrow stile design with 10" bottom rails. o Exterior entry doors to match existing systems, including lock-open capabilities. o Surface-mounted overhead closers (LCN or equivalent). o Manufacturer's standard butt hinges. o Push/pull handles. o Commercial grade locking hardware. o Thresholds and full perimeter weatherstripping. F. Finishes: o Paint schemes and finishes will be selected to complement the existing finish of the committal shelter (Sherwin Williams "Barnstable Brown") as approved by the Cemetery Superintendent. G. Roof & Drainage: o Roof or gutter system must ensure that no water is discharged directly over the entry. o Roofing materials and colors to match existing shingle scheme. H. Performance Considerations: o Entry must function as an effective airlock to limit air infiltration. o Design must ensure pedestrian comfort and safety during inclement weather. o Materials must be durable and suitable for high-traffic use. The Committal Shelter currently has two sets of double entry doors (each measuring 6 feet by 8 feet) located on the east and north sides of the structure. The existing doors are structurally sound and in generally good condition, but require several repairs to improve functionality, security, and appearance. The scope of work includes: o Replacement of door sweeps and seals to improve energy efficiency and weather protection. o Installation of new crossbar exit devices for enhanced safety and ADA compliance. o Installation of a new keyed exterior lever trim in a satin chrome finish for security and uniform appearance. o Installation of surface-mounted vertical rods. o Reworking of door headers and stops as needed to ensure proper fit and operation. o Replacement or refitting of the existing door closers to enable the doors to remain in an open, locked position, allowing for unobstructed pedestrian access and dignified casket transport into the shelter.
