Maple Avenue Street Improvement Project Project Description: This Project Will Improve Roughly Three Miles of Maple Avenue From Ranchero Road to Main Street. Proposed Improvements Consist of Pavement Rehabilitation, Signing and Striping, Pedestrian Push Button Upgrades, and Ada Curb Ramp Reconstruction. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise: Though No Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (Dbe) Goal is Set for This Project, the City Strongly Encourages Participation From Small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. Public Works Contractor and Subcontractor Registration: Pursuant to California Labor Code Division 2, Part 7, Chapter 1, Article 2, a Contractor or Subcontractor Shall Not Be Qualified to Bid on, Be Listed in a Bid Proposal, or Engage in the Performance of Any Contract for Public Work With the City of Hesperia, as Defined in Said Chapter, Unless Currently Registered With the California Department of Industrial Relations and is Qualified to Perform Public Work Pursuant to Labor Code 1725.5 [with Limited Exceptions from This Requirement for Bid Purposes Only Under Labor Code 1771.1(a)]. It is Not a Violation of Thissection for an Unregistered Contractor to Submit a Bid That is Authorized by 7029.1 of the Business and Professions Code or by 10164 or 20103.5 of the Public Contract Code, Provided the Contractor is Registered to Perform Public Work at the Time the Contract is Awarded. The Bidder Shall Include the Buy America Requirements in All Agreements With Subcontractors for Work on This Project. The Bidder Shall Indemnify the City of Hesperia From Any Loss, Liability and Expenses Arising Out of Bidder's Failure to Comply With Buy America Requirements. In the Event That the Bidder Seeks a Statutory Waiver Pursuant to 23 Cfr 635.410, the Bidder May Not Rely on the Anticipated Issuance by Fhwa of Such Waiver to Show Compliance With Buy America Requirements. Bidders Must Submit, Along With Their Bid - Cash, a Cashier's Check, a Certified Check, or a Bidder's Bond, Payable to the City of Hesperia in an Amount Equal to at Least Ten Percent (10%) of the Bid, as a Guarantee That the Bidder Will Enter Into the Contract if the Same is Awarded to the Successful Bidder, and in Event of Failure to Enter Into Such Contract Said Cash, Cashier's Check, Certified Check, or Bond Shall Become the Property of the City of Hesperia. If the City of Hesperia Awards the Contract to the Next Lowest Bidder, the Amount of the Lowest Bidder's Security Shall Be Applied to the Difference Between the Low Bid and the Second Lowest Bid, and the Surplus, if Any,shall Be Returned to the Lowest Bidder. The Successful Bidder Shall Be Required to Post a Performance Bond in the Amount of One Hundred Percent (100%) of the Contract Price and a Payment Bond (Labor and Materials Bond) Equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the Contract Price. The City Reserves the Right to Reject Any or All Bids or Any Part(S) Thereof, to Waive Any Irregularities or Informalities in Any Bid or in the Bid Process, and to Make a Contract Award in the Best Questions are to be directed via PUBLIC | PURCHASE. The deadline for submission of questions is February 11, 2026 by 10:00am. No questions will be answered after this deadline at the City's discretion.
