As of August 22, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded in September. Rock Springs Road Bridge Over the Mojave River From East of Glendale Avenue to West of Deep Creek Road Replacement of bridge on Rock Springs Road over the Mojave River. This Project requires a Class A Contractor's license issued by the state of California Contractors State Licensing Board. The bids must also be accompanied by cash, cashier's check, certified check, or bidder's bond executed by an admitted surety insurer, made payable to the San Bernardino County in the amount of at least ten percent of the amount of the bid given as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract. The contract shall be signed by the successful bidder and returned within 10 days, and the contract bonds, copy of insurance policies, and Certificates of Insurance, with documents to verify any self-insurance coverage shall be provided within 10 days, not including Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays, after the bidder has received the contract for execution. BONDS: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Labor and Materials Bond and a Faithful Performance Bond, each in a penal sum equal to one hundred percent of the Contract price The work, in general, consists of removing the existing bridges, constructing new bridges, grading the channel, installing rock slope protection, asphalt paving; installing MGS; striping and signage and doing other work appurtenant thereto The project is limited to replacement of the existing Rock Springs Road low-water crossing across the Mojave River with a new bridge and realignment of Rock Springs Road. The new bridge will be south of the existing low-water crossing. Roadway approaches will be constructed to conform to the existing alignment of the road, improvements include curb, gutter, sidewalk and drainage improvements. The bridge will be approximately 950 feet long, 46.5 feet wide to include two 12-foot lanes, two 4- foot shoulders, one 4-foot median, and a 6-foot sidewalk on the south side, and would range from 12 feet to 20 feet in height when measured from the river bottom. Existing utilities, including electricity, phone, gas, and irrigation will be relocated or protected in place. The project would elevate the roadway east of the river and remove existing driveway access from Rock Springs Road for two residences and replace them with driveway access from Santa Rosa Road. Retaining walls will be added along the south side of the elevated Rock Springs Road. The southern retaining wall will be constructed from the east abutment and would extend to the east along Rock Springs Road roughly 800 feet and range from approximately 16 feet in height at the bridge and 4 feet in height at its east end. Construction is anticipated to take a total of 16 months over two construction seasons. Temporary staging areas and stockpiling will occur on the eastern side of the project area. Equipment anticipated includes excavators, loaders, flatbed and pickup trucks, skid steers, dump trucks, compactors, cranes, concrete mixer trucks, truck-mounted concrete boom pumps, water wagons, pile driver, pile oscillators/rotators, pile rotary drillings, and rigs.
