The Town of Paxton is soliciting quotes for work to be conducted for the Richards Public Library, to include (1) update hot water heating system failed components; and (2) install associated automatic temperature controls Starting 9/25/25 at 9am for materials Question Deadline 10/06/2025 Questions and inquiries will be accepted from all Contractors and must be in writing. Questions will be answered in writing and both questions and answers will be distributed to all bidders who receive the Solicitation provided, however, that all questions are received at least three (3) days in advance of the deadline This building is used for Richards Memorial Library. The building is under the control of the Library Trustees and Library Director. In December of 2022, the RML had two new boilers installed after a mini fire occurred in one of them after manual resetting. At the time of the emergency install, HVAC controls were not considered. Since then, the system does not work properly as nothing is interconnected. This project seeks to remedy that issue by updating components and controls necessary to make the system as a whole operate effectively and efficiently. 1. The Project name is HVAC Upgrades, Richards Memorial Library, Paxton, MA. The contractor may begin work within the building on or about [DATE]. Project to be complete within [#] weeks. 2. The "Work" of this Contract is defined in the Contract Documents to include, but not necessarily to be limited to: Contractor to replace (7) 1/2" electronic zone valves with (7) Belimo ZONE215N-35, 120 volt, 3.5 CV fail open valves or equivalent Contractor to replace (6) 3/4" electronic zone valves with (6) Belimo ZONE220N-35, 120 volt, 3.5 CV fail open valves or equivalent Contractor to replace Tekmar boiler control with Heat Timer HWR-Q reset control and connect Honeywell TH1100DH programmable thermostat or equivalent to Heat Timer for indoor temperature cut-off Contractor to replace (13) 120 volt thermostats throughout building with Honeywell TL8230A 1003/U programmable 120 volt thermostats or equivalent Contractor to remove electronic 3 way valve on boiler piping and cap, leaving a single loop for building heating Contractor to replace (2) Taco 1600 pumps with (2) Grundfos Magna3 40-120F high efficiency pumps, replacing (2) 2" existing check valves with (2) new 2" spring check valves and any necessary near piping Commissioning and programming of Heat Timer and all thermostats to be covered by contractor Contractor to replace 1/8" air vent on top of air scoop in boiler room and install Taco Hy-Vent with ball valve under the vent 1.2 Occupancy During Construction A. The Owner will occupy the building during the entire period of construction. Construction shall be done so as to minimize conflicts and to facilitate Owner usage. A coordination meeting between the town administrator, library representative, and contractor shall take place prior to the start of the project to organize an agreeable work schedule. B. Normal work hours are 9AM to 5PM Wednesday and Friday and 1PM to 8PM on Tuesday and Thursday. C. Some areas of the building have special uses/occupancies. At certain times, it may be necessary to limit construction activity to accommodate use. The library shall notify the contractor 24 hours prior to any events so the contract can adjust his work accordingly.
