Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Coralville, Iowa. Working plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

All bids rejected by city Improvements include stormwater infrastructure and earthwork to accommodate two ball diamonds with sports clay infield & natural turf outfields, dugouts, fencing, backstop wall, poles, cables & netting. Electrical service upgrades to maintenance building and outlets at each dugout and backstop walls, 6 outlets in total. Irrigation for both diamonds including connection to existing water main, pump & backflow preventer in above-ground utility cabinets, controllers, quick couplers, and other associated irrigation equipment as specified. Concrete walkways and pavement connect proposed diamonds to existing fields and parking, including a pedestrian connection to Forevergreen Road. A vehicular drop-off lane and concrete aprons are provided for anticipated overflow parking. Landscaping and turf establishment to cover extents of construction disturbance. Alternate #1 includes two batting tunnels with synthetic turf surfacing on aggregate with one electrical outlet provided. Alternate #2 includes a concrete mow strip along all perimeter fencing for both fields 6 & 7. Alternate #3 includes fixtures and finishes in two restrooms in the maintenance building, with waterproof drywall and tile 5' from finish floor. Work on the improvements may commence immediately upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The Notice to Proceed will be issued upon approval of the contract by the City Council. Issuance of the Notice to Proceed is anticipated to occur on or before May 28, 2025. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. This project has an interim substantial completion date of September 1, 2025, which includes final grading, preparation and seeding of all field turf areas. The specified final project completion date is December 1, 2025. Project completion includes approval by the City Engineer of all water and electrical services and related appurtenances; surface restoration; completion of punchlist items; and submittal of final pay application. Should the contractor fail to complete the work prior to the specified completion date, liquidated damages in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty dollars ($250.00) per calendar day will be assessed until the work is fully completed. The City of Coralville does hereby reserve the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction. A pre-construction meeting with the awarded contractor is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday June 3 at 2:00 pm at City Hall, 1512 7 th Street, Coralville, Iowa 52241. Date, time, and location will be finalized with awarded contractor. For Bid Bond purposes, the construction estimate for the project is $1,550,000.
