Renovation of an educational facility in Birmingham, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 21,500-square-foot educational facility.
Only General Contractors Who Have Completed the Pre-qualification Process and Are Certified as Qualified Will Be Eligible to Bid. Qualification and Approval Criteria May Be Obtained From the Architect Upon Letterhead Request and is Intended to Identify Responsible and Competent General Contractors Relative to the Requirements of the Project. Completed Applications for Pre-qualification Must Be Received by the Architect by Friday, May 9th, at 2 P.m. (Cst). No Further Requests Will Be Considered After This Date and Time. The Owner Reserves the Right to Waive Technical Errors in Pre-qualification Applications or Abandon the Prequalification Process in Whole or in Part, Should the Interests of the Owner Appear to Be Promoted Thereby. The Proposed Project Involves Renovating the Existing Building a (-21,500 S.f.) on the Lscc Birmingham Campus to Serve as the Flagship for the College's Health Professions Program. The Project Will Consist of Gutting Building a of Virtually All Non-load-bearing Walls and Systems, Other Than the Existing Stairs and the Campus Network Operations Center, Which Must Remain in Operation. The New Layout Will Include Multiple Medical Labs, Classrooms, Offices, and Study/lounge Spaces. The Exterior Modifications Will Include a New Metal Roof & Elevator Addition on the South Stair Tower, New Storefront Windows, New Sidewalks, a New Electrical Generator, a New Entry Patio, a New Walkway Cover Between Buildings a & D, and an Enclosed Connector Between Buildings a & B. The Project Will Also Include the Conversion of an Existing Suite in Building B to Serve as the Rad Tech Lab and Minor Drainage & Sidewalk Modifications in the Existing Courtyard. The Estimated Cost of the Project is Approx. $7,490,000. All Bidders Bidding in Amounts Exceeding That Established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors Must Be Licensed Under the Provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and Must Show Evidence of License Before Bidding or Bid Will Not Be Received or Considered by the Architect; the Bidder Shall Show Such Evidence by Clearly Displaying His or Her Current License Number on the Outside of the Sealed Envelope in Which the Proposal is Delivered. The Owner Reserves the Right to Reject Any or All Proposals and to Waive Technical Errors if, in the Owner's Judgment, the Best Interests of the Owner Will Thereby Be Promoted. A Cashier's Check or Bid Bond Payable to Lawson State Community College in an Amount Not Less Than Five (5) Percent of the Amount of the Bid, but in No Event More Than $10,000, Must Accompany the Bidder's Proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and Evidence of Insurance Required in the Bid Documents Will Be Required at the Signing of the Contract. All RFI’s shall be submitted via email to the Project Manager no later than 2:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 as per Addendum 1
