The Sumas Way substation (SMW) is to be decommissioned. The civil works are proposed to facilitate overhead electrical load reconfigurations. This RFP is for a contract that generally includes Construction of approximately 1200 meters of underground utility duct bank compromising of 6 (six) pre-cast vaults. Section A: Along east boulevard of Abbotsford Mission Highway (Hwy 11), a new underground duct bank approximately 675m in length is to be built alongside the existing duct bank. The duct bank will have concrete encased and direct buried sections. Part of the existing duct bank to be abandoned and one (1) pre-cast T-type manhole to be installed in the highway boulevard. A new duct bank shall connect the existing and proposed duct banks to the new T-Type manhole. The new duct bank shall continue south past the existing stub off, connecting to two(2) pre-cast thru type double access manholes, one(1) precast T-type manhole, and four(4) terminal poles with the duct bank terminating and stubbed out past Hazelwood Avenue. Section B (SUBJECT TO FUNDING): Along Immel Street and Maclure Street, a new underground duct bank approximately 500m in length is to be built with the installation two (2) double access through type manholes. The new duct bank will connect to two (2) terminal poles and passing through an existing manhole. The duct bank will have concrete encased sections. BC Hydro has the right to award only Section A or both Section A and B to the lead proponent.
