This project has been in the planning process for more than three decades.- A major step forward occurred in May 2019 when the County Board authorized the County Manager to sign a Programmatic Agreement with the National Park Service, National Capital Planning Commission, District of Columbia State Historic Preservation Office and Virginia State Historic Preservation Office for developing a boathouse and related facilities on the Virginia side of the Potomac River on federal land administered by the George Washington Memorial Parkway.-The County has ten years, until 2029, to construct the boathouse on the Lower Rosslyn Site before the agreement expires. - The project involves a Lower Rosslyn Site adjacent to the Potomac River for direct water access and an Upper Rosslyn Site for support facilities on land that the County already owns.- Master planning is anticipated to start in FY 2025 with design of the facilities to follow in FY 2026. This schedule should allow the project at the Lower Site to be under construction by the 2029 agreement expiration date.
