The South Island Forest District Engineering Team invites qualified contractors to bid on a tender to upgrade Maggie Lake Forest Service Road from stations 9+000 to 11+783 as per engineered road design. The successful bidder will be required to provide references proving a minimum of 5 years' experience in resource road building. The successful bidder will be assigned as the Designated Prime Contractor and must be capable of fulfilling that role. A Professional Engineer is required to oversee the implementation of the road design. Work under this contract entails: Within an existing quarry develop 1000 m3 of 4" to 6" minus aggregate and 2500 m3 of 1" minus crushed aggregate. Cut, Levelling and shaping of the road including cleanout and/or establishment of new ditch lines. There is an estimated 3200 m3 of Cut and end haul required. Load, Deliver, Place and Compact 4 inch to 6-inch minus of Granular Fill Material to achieve proper road subgrade levels and widths as per the road design. Total fill material volume to be placed is 4420 m3. Load, Deliver, Place and Compact 1 inch minus Surfacing Material. A total of 7040 m3 of surface capping material of 1" minus is to be spread out. Grading and compacting of the resurfaced area to provide a finished smooth-running surface. Install 21 Culverts. The Ministry will supply the culverts. Install 5 Perched Culverts. The Ministry will supply the culverts. The 150 m3 of Riprap for these culverts can be found in the quarry. Note the Open Bottom Arch culverts from Station 10+900 to 10+930 and 11+330 to 11+370 are excluded from this contract. For the project, within the quarry, the Ministry has stockpiled 4242 m3 of 4" to 6" minus aggregate and 4997 m3 of 1" minus crushed aggregate.
