Site work for a water / sewer project in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Berkeley County is requesting proposals to provide adjustable Weir Trough systems specifically for use in municipal Wastewater Treatment Clarifiers. Contractor is responsible for design, manufacturing and installing the Weir Trough equipment. DEADLINE FOR WRITTEN QUESTIONS: August 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST : Offerors requiring additional information may submit their questions via the Berkeley County Bids and Proposals website This project consists of fabrication and (or) installation of an adjustable weir trough system for use in municipal wastewater treatment primary clarifiers. The Project is divided into two distinct services. The first encompasses the design, manufacture, and delivery to site of the weir troughs. The second is for installation of the weir troughs according to the manufacturer's specifications and requirements. Berkeley County Water and Sanitation (BCWS) reserves the right to self-install the weir troughs and in such a case decline the second component of this bid for any offer that exceeds the expected budget. Section #1 Specifications - Manufacture and Supply of Weir Trough Equipment o The weir trough shall match the design of the five troughs recently installed in clarifier #2. o The weir trough shall be fabricated fully of 316 stainless steel, with a 3/16" thickness minimum. o The weir trough shall have an inside dimension of approximately 24 inches wide x 30 inches high. o Troughs shall include cross braces the full length of the trough, approximately 30 inches apart. o Cross braces shall be 316 stainless steel pipe 24 inches long to span the inside width of the trough. o Cross braces shall maintain structural rigidity under hydrostatic conditions expected during both normal and storm event operation. o The overall length of each weir trough is approximately 80 feet: o The manufacturer is responsible for field measurement and confirmation of the required length to ensure the trough extends the full length from the effluent channel wall to the walkway scum baffle wall. o Weir trough shall include adjustable v-notch weir plates, a minimum of 8 inches tall, made from 316 stainless steel, with a 3/16" thickness minimum, for the full 80 feet length of each weir trough on both sides: o V-notch shall be 90 degrees and a minimum of 2 inches deep on 6-inch centers. o Each weir plate shall include slotted vertically oriented holes a minimum of 1.5 inches long to allow vertical adjustment and leveling of the weir. o Adjustable weir plates shall include rubber-faced washers to ensure a watertight seal once the weirs have been positioned and fastened. o The weir trough shall be manufactured in a minimum of three interconnecting sections to facilitate installation without moving the existing support beam or modifying the existing concrete columns (refer to below point for specification of connection) o The effluent wall end of the weir troughs shall include a flange for mounting to the existing channel cutout: o The flange shall be made of 316 stainless steel with 3/8 inch thickness minimum. o Wall flange will include a 1/2 inch thick neoprene gasket to effectively seal to the existing concrete wall. o Trough sections shall include a similar flange to connect each section to the other. o Trough flanged connections shall include a 1/8-inch-thick neoprene gasket matching the flange dimensions. o The weir trough shall include welded tabs for connecting vertical supports to the existing Ibeams and concrete walkways. o Vertical support shall be a minimum of 2-inch x 2-inch x 1/4 inch support angle bolted to the trough tabs and extending vertically to a bolted connection on the existing I beam o Vertical supports shall include slotted holes as required for leveling and horizontal adjustment. o The vertical supports shall match the location of the existing I-beams and walkways without significant modifications to the I-beam or walkway. o The manufacturer is responsible for field measurement and confirmation of the vertical support locations. o Each weir trough shall have a closed end at the concrete baffle wall: o Closed end shall include mounting supports that allow for slight variation in the concrete structure for both vertical and horizontal adjustment. o The closed end mounting shall not use the concrete baffle wall as a sealing surface due to variations and stresses. Section #2 Specifications - Weir Trough Equipment Installation o The manufacturer of the weir troughs shall also provide the installation, field adjustment, and final commissioning of the provided weir trough system. o The manufacturer will be responsible for demolition and removal of the existing fiberglass weir troughs. o The new weir trough system shall be installed in the same location as the existing one and centered in the existing 24" x 30" openings in the concrete effluent wall. o The invert of each trough shall be aligned with the invert of the existing opening. o Troughs shall be assembled in the tank in sections. o Each section shall be installed level and adjusted as needed, with the vertical supports included in the equipment supply. o The entire length of the complete assembly shall be leveled before installation of the adjustable weirs. o The adjustable weirs shall be installed using special rubber washers on the inner side of the trough to minimize water leakage through the 1.5" adjustment slots. The adjustable weirs shall be adjusted to provide an even overflow of water the length of the trough. o The existing weir trough overflow level shall be used, and the new weir adjusted to match. o The installation shall be continuous without delay. The installation is estimated at 3 weeks. Continuous progress updates will be provided to Berkeley County. o Berkeley County Responsibility o Berkeley County will receive the equipment and offload upon delivery. o The equipment will be located near the primary clarifiers until installation mobilization. o Berkeley County will provide the crane required for installing the equipment for a period of three weeks. o If a crane is needed beyond the specified 3-week period, the contractor will be responsible for the additional costs
