BACKGROUND Frederick County is the northern-most point in Virginia, a mid-point of the East Coast. The County sits at the north of the Shenandoah Valley which stretches 200 miles between two mountain ranges - The Blue Ridge Mountains to the East and The Allegheny Mountains (part of the Appalachian Mountain Range) to the West. The Valley is bound by two rivers, the Potomac River to the North and the James River to the South. The County encompasses 416 square miles, serving a population of approximately 95,000. Frederick County Parks and Recreation manages a system of owned or maintained facilities, which currently includes 411 acres of land, of which 220 acres are developed park land, 3.6 miles of paved multipurpose trails, two miles of unpaved trails, nineteen picnic shelters, nine playgrounds, two fishing lakes, and two outdoor pools. SCOPE OF WORK A. No traffic shall be allowed on the new surface until the rolling has been completed. B. The Contractor shall be responsible for all clean up within the project areas. C. In the event the contractor or any of his employees, agents, or servants causes damage to personal property, the contractor shall reimburse the County for any loss the County may suffer as a result of the liability of the contractor, his employees, agents, or servants. D. All work shall be accomplished, and the contract completed by June 30, 2025. E. An on-site supervisor shall be available when work is being accomplished. F. The contractor shall be responsible for all material delivered to the trail area/site. G. Weather conditions must be permissible for the application of treated material. H. A steel drum roller shall be used to compact the stone and shall not exceed a weight of (8) tons. I. The contractor shall be reimbursed in accordance with this contract upon completion of this project to the County's satisfaction.
