Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Laurens, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a power facility; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The general nature of the work on which bids will be received consists of the addition of an underground bulk fuel tank at the existing generation plant. The work includes replacement of the existing tank monitoring equipment, addition of fuel meters, and the addition of a fuel oil heater. Work will involve modifications to the existing electrical wiring and fuel piping at the generation plant. Each bid shall be made out on a blank form furnished by the Laurens Municipal Power & Communications and must contain bid security as required by Iowa Code Section 26.8. The bidder's security shall be in the form of either (1) a cashier's check or certified check drawn on a state chartered or federally chartered bank, in an amount equal to ten (10) percent of the amount of the Bid; or (2) a certified share draft drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered credit union, in an amount equal to ten (10) percent of the amount of the Bid; or (3) a Bid Bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in an amount equal to ten (10) percent of the amount of the Bid. The bid security shall be made payable to Laurens Municipal Power & Communications. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body of as an endorsement thereon. Such bid security shall be forfeited to the Laurens Municipal Power & Communications as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract within fifteen (15) days after the award of the contract and post satisfactory Performance and Payment Bonds Construction may be started after the execution of the Construction Agreement (the Contract) and the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Substantial Completion of the project shall be no later than November 30, 2025. See the "Construction Schedule" of the Technical Specifications for special instructions relating to this project. Laurens Municipal Power & Communications reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date bids are received and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
