Work consists of removal of existing bituminous pavement by cold planer, followed by repaving with Class I bituminous pavement. The Contractor shall provide all equipment necessary for cold planing, hauling of all removed materials and cleaning of surface in preparation of pavement. After cold planing has been completed, and the DPW has made other improvements to the roadway as necessary, hot bituminous concrete pavement will be placed in the same locations as directed by the DPW Director or Foreman. This type of pavement shall be composed ofmineral aggregate, mineral filler, and bituminous material. This pavement shall be machine laid in one (1) top course at one-half(1 1/2) inches in compacted thickness with a leveler only as needed, as directed by the Superintendent or Foreman. This contract for this bid shall be for the removal of approximately 37,340 square yards of materials and the application approximately 5,162 tons ofClass I bituminous concrete pavement installed in place (Estimated 2,064 tons ofleveler and 3,098 tons oftopcoat). Award ofthis bid does not guarantee the removal or purchase of any specific quantity of materials by the Town. Removal of existing pavement by cold planer. There may be roadways that will require keyways up to three feet wide that will not be cold planed; they will be resurfaced only. All bituminous and incidental materials used in the work shall conform to the requirements ofthe "Massachusetts Department of Public Works - Standard Specification for Highways and Bridges - 2021 Edition" unless specifically stated otherwise herein. Bituminous concrete surfacing materials shall conform to Section 460, Class I Bituminous Concrete Pavement ofsaid Mass. D.P.W. Specification. Gradations ofmix will be as directed by the Superintendent or Foreman to suit the use intended. Binder pavement will be followed by overlay pavement.
