The City of Independence is seeking statements of qualifications (SOQs) for professional design-build services for the above-referenced project. The goal is to utilize a qualifications-based selection process to hire a design-build team for a turn-key project to perform design and construction services at Fire Station Number One (1). answering questions, and providing clarifications: May 20, 2025, and May 22, 2025. Deadline for Questions for RFQ - May 27, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. local time Submit questions regarding this RFQ online at www.publicpurchase.com by deadline in the Anticipated Schedule. Provide professional design-build services for the parking lot expansion and site improvements to isolate public and private areas at the Independence Fire Department, located at 950 North Spring Street, Independence, Missouri 64050. The project includes a parking lot expansion, potential utility impacts, sediment and erosion control, site grading, paving, and fencing. A portion of the new parking area will be enclosed and a secure lot for City vehicles and Fire Department personnel vehicles. There are several infrastructure elements that will have to be designed around and/or matched with proposed grading. An adjacent high voltage line power pole may require easement agreements with the purveyor to work and construct improvements within the easement. These site constraints may require innovative design due to existing site slopes and tie in points. There may also be some impacts to the adjacent park with infrastructure, grading, and/or stormwater best management practices. The project is envisioned to impact approximately 0.25 acre. Parking lot addition includes a 70' X 110' (approx. 7,700 Sq.Ft.) asphalt (constructed to a 30-year design life recommended thickness) parking lot area, with a minimum of 24 (9' wide by 18' long) striped parking spots. Retaining walls may be required. This lot is to be fenced with a 6-foot tall, powder coated Rod Top Security Fence (or like material) to include a single drive through gate with a chain drive (or similar) opener. A pedestal style access card reader will be provided by the Fire Department to operate the gate opener, that will need to be integrated into the opener system. This will need to include electrical service and data cable. The city will provide data cable requirements and service location hook up with finalization of design.
