Site work and outdoor lighting for a bridge / tunnel in Ketchikan, Alaska. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for outdoor lighting for a bridge / tunnel.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to repair and refurbish existing electrical lighting and fire suppression systems within the Lewis Reef Road tunnel corridor underneath the Ketchikan Airport runway in Ketchikan, Alaska. DOT&PF is proposing the following activities: o Install new lamps in existing light fixtures and replace fixtures as required within Lewis Reef Road tunnel o Relace electrical components in and around existing lighting control panel to restore functionality o Replace and reconnect electrical and communications components in and around the fire alarm control panel to restore functionality o Inspect and recommission the lighting control and fire alarm systems Construction for this project is anticipated to occur in late fall of 2025 and finish within one construction season. Temporary traffic disruptions may occur during construction of the proposed project activities. Development of this proposed project would follow a process required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Based on project location and scope of work, the environmental document is anticipated to be a Categorical Exclusion (CE). Possible affected resources include wetlands, waters of the U.S., bald eagles, essential fish habitat, and threatened and endangered species. The proposed project would comply with all applicable authorities including: o Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act o Clean Air and Clean Water Acts o National Historic Preservation Act - Section 106 o Americans with Disabilities Act o Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act Please submit your written comments to: Whitney Hamilton, Environmental Impact Analyst DOT&PF Southcoast Region P.O.
