Proposed work consists of 1.2-miles (mi) of ditch improvements/levee construction and installation of a pump station with sump between 200 Bayou Vista Drive to 168-feet (ft) south of 262 Bayou Vista Drive in Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The project is located in the coastal zone approximately 0.7-mi south of Bayou Lafourche. External ditches along the subdivision sides will be modified to accompany levees and increase storm water conveyance to the pump station. Ditch improvements would parallel the proposed levees and be confined to the levee outline. Levee elevation will be to a level of 10-year storm protection per Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) hydraulics manual (+4-ft NAVD88). Construction will include a 10-ft wide crown with 1 vertical to 2.5 horizontal (1V:2.5H) slopes. Levee and ditch improvements will require expansion of the existing drainage servitude via Right-of-Way (ROW) acquisition and potentially mitigation for 1.63-ac of wetlands in the project area. The proposed pump station would be located at approximately 29.743N, -90.753W. Pump station will include two (2) vertical drainage pumps driven by diesel engines and discharge piping. Pump station will operate on float system based on water level in 0.3-acre (ac) reservoir (on at 1-ft, off at -1-ft). Discharge will be into the existing drainage artery at rear of subdivision that drains south to the Forty Arpent Canal. Approximately 23.5-ac of floodplains will be temporarily impacted during construction. The project purpose is to reduce flooding following severe weather events and enhance drainage in the project area.
