Reference Number 0000293848 The Rural Municipality of Gimli is accepting bid submissions for the replacement of the ice plant condenser at the Gimli Recreation Centre. The Gimli Recre ation Centre operates an ammonia ice plant that holds three compressors running at 60 tons each, that provides service to two ice pads. The RM of Gimli received funding from the Arts, Culture and Sport in Communities Program through the Province of Manitoba to update the ice plant. The current condenser is near end-of-life, so the replacement is the next step to ensure longevity of the total plant and to not affect operating. Work is to commence any time after the award on June 11, 2025, and is to be completed by no later than July 31, 2025. The accepted bidder shall provide a 50% performance bond for the faithful performance of the work. The RM of Gimli reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive irregularities and informalities therein, and to award the tender in the best interest of the RM of Gimli in its sole discretion. Lowest bid may not be accepted. Contractors must comply with Municipal requirements for liability insurance, WCB coverage and business licensing to be eligible to be awarded the contract. The Rural Municipality of Gimli received funding from the Arts, Culture, and Sport in Communities Program through the Province of Manitoba to update the ice plant. The current condenser is near end-of-life, so the replacement is the next step to ensure longevity of the total plant and to not affect operating. RFT 2025-14 has been issued to obtain tenders to replace the current condenser, including: - Supply and install one (1) condenser, either with the same specs as the current condenser or recommended option for a new condenser with accompanying information on the difference or benefits of the new option. - Properly recover refrigerant from the system. - Drain and remove glycol, water, or any secondary coolants from the system. - Disconnect electrical wiring, carefully labeling and removing control and power wiring. - Disconnect piping, isolate and unbolt refrigerant, water, and drain piping. - Remove old condenser, supplying cranes or forklifts as needed. - Prepare the site by cleaning and inspecting support structures for installation. - Place the new condenser into position, ensuring proper orientation and alignment. - Reconnect piping, matching flange sizes, gaskets and insulation. - Check pipe slopes for drainage. - Reconnect electrical wiring, ensuring wiring is correct, secure and meets code. Include sensors, fan motors, water pumps, etc. - Pressure test piping and check connections. - Refill and recharge the system with ammonia according to system specifications. - Restart compressors, monitoring pressures and temperatures. - Verify condenser operation. - Provide final inspection and documentation, including balancing the system, recording parameters, inspecting for vibration, noise, or leaks, and updating documentation, including equipment manuals and maintenance records. - Provide information to RM of Gimli staff on new controls or maintenance requirements, including maintenance and inspection intervals for the new condenser. Should there be additional requirements for installation, those should be indicated within the tender submission.
