Construction Estimate: $5 million The Berkeley Campus of the University of California is seeking professional services to perform schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and other support services for interim security improvements for the UC Police Department in their current location in Sproul Hall. The selected consultant team (Consultant) will work from a planning study that evaluates the existing facility, and identifies improvements to improve the facility in the interim period before a new police substation is constructed. The Consultant will be required to sign UC Berkeley's Executive Design Professional Agreement (EDPA). The total project budget, including expenses, is expected to range around $400,000, to be negotiated with the final scope of services. Berkeley's UC Police Department (UCPD) has the primary responsibility and authority to provide public safety and law enforcement services for the Berkeley campus and its satellite properties. UCPD Berkeley is a full service, statewide law enforcement agency as described in California Penal Code 830.2(b) and California Education Code 92600. The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in service of the campus community. The department is subject to the regulations of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), as well as oversight by other University, State of California and Federal authorities. UCPD maintains strong relationships with the City of Berkeley police department and with other neighboring jurisdictions. Its members are proud to partner with a variety of campus and community resources in a collaborative effort to prevent crime, reduce harm and provide public safety services.
