This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Berkeley, California. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

The Berkeley Campus of the University of California ("University") is seeking an architect or landscape architect-led team ("Consultant") to perform conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bid, construction administration, and other support services as required by the Executive Design Professional Agreement (EDPA) for a new accessible bridge crossing Strawberry Creek at Faculty Glade on the UC Berkeley campus ("Project"). The Project is the highest priority project of the University's Accessible Paths and Places Plan. As part of the first phase of work, the University will ask the selected Consultant team to validate and define the project scope, cost estimate, schedule, and develop a refined Conceptual Design. Faculty Glade is a historic open space within the Campus Park that functions as a community space for gathering, recreation, and relaxation. The glade is an integral element within the campus's evolving landscape heritage. The border of Strawberry Creek may include archeological sites, and the natural landscape setting of the glade is linked to the Faculty Club designed by Bernard Maybeck in 1902. The new bridge would span from South Drive, near the Campanile, to the northwest side of Morrison Hall. The project scope includes the bridge structure as well as necessary landscape restoration and pathway connections at both ends of the bridge and in the affected area underneath the span, including creek restoration or mitigation as applicable. An existing concrete bridge, which does not meet ADA guidelines, would be removed. In conjunction with pathway improvements to be completed by the Clean Energy Campus Project at North Field, the Project would address a significant accessibility gap by creating an accessible north-south pathway from the new Bancroft Parking Garage to the center of the Campus Park. The design intent is to create a minimally intrusive crossing that aligns with ADA requirements, minimizes effects on the creek zone and surrounding landscape, aesthetically fits the campus context, and aligns with the campus's constrained capital resources to implement the project. The Project will be required to meet the University of California Sustainable Practices Policy as well as other relevant UC and University policies and guidelines. Submittals shall not exceed twenty-five (25) single-sided 8.5" x 11" pages, including all the components listed as required elements in this section of the RFQ. Submittals shall provide sufficient information to allow the University to evaluate the Consultant's approach, experience, staff, and availability. Cover, a cover letter, separating tabs, and the hourly rate sheet shall not count toward the page limit. Body text in submittals must not be smaller than the equivalent of Arial, size 11, with 1.25 line spacing, with the exception of Attachment B, which may use smaller text but must still be legible. Pages larger than 8.5" x 11" are not allowed.
