PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This Cal Softball Field Renovation requires special inspection services for the new construction of a softball facility, which is located in Strawberry Canyon, UC Berkeley, just east of the California Memorial Stadium. The new Softball Field will replace the existing field at the same location, including demolition of existing bleachers and service buildings. The new facility will include a new seating-bowl structure containing locker rooms, batting cages, coach offices, and a press box. The new building's footprint will be approximately 20,000 square feet and its structure is largely cast-in-place concrete with pre-cast seating-bowl. The field itself is approximately 45,000 square feet and will include artificial turf. The construction schedule is 17 months with the anticipated start of construction occurring in June 2025. The project is pursuing LEED Silver certification. The estimated construction cost for the project is $47,000,000, and the CM/Contractor selected by the University is Plant Construction Company, and the delivery method is design-bid-build.
